Types of Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is your classic full body relaxation massage. Using long gliding strokes on the body, this technique helps push blood towards the heart.  Swedish massage warms up the tissue so toxins, tension and soreness are released.

Deep Tissue Massage

The common misconception of deep tissue is that most people think it means deep pressure. Not necessarily though, because deep tissue means accessing the deep muscles in the body. We have superficial muscles that are closest to the skin and we have muscles behind superficial muscles called deep muscles. Deep tissue massage is ideally for chronic tightness/pain, postural problems, recovery from injury, and repetitive strain.

Lymphatic Massage

This type of massage uses light pressure to help drain the lymphatic system. It’s great for people who are detoxing and want to speed up the detox process. The massage therapist follows a specific sequence so lymph fluid will not be stuck, therefore completely flushing the entire body for successful drainage.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is amazing for getting out knots in your muscles. The therapist finds the knot and applies static pressure to relieve the knot. Usually the muscles around the knot also needs to be relaxed so trigger point therapy is good to add on a Swedish or deep tissue massage.

Prenatal Massage

The high emotional stress and body change to house a baby should be enough to justify that every pregnant woman should get some bodywork done.  One of the best benefits from a massage is to decrease swelling, aches and pains. Every precaution will be used to make sure mom is comfortable and certain pressure points will be avoided. Usually mom will be on her side while getting massaged so the baby will be protected.

Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi lomi is an ancient Hawaiian way of massage. Long, sweeping movements using the hands and arms much like rolling ocean waves achieve relaxation on the body. Not only is the physical body is worked on but also the mind and spirit. It starts with pure intention and gratitude. Lomi lomi heals our planet by blessing each body with the spirit of aloha; love, kindness, grace and compassion.
